PA President Muttonen condemns apparent terrorist attack in Nice, France

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President Christine Muttonen (MP, Austria) issued the following statement in response to an apparent terrorist attack that killed at least 84 people in Nice, France, Thursday night.

„I strongly condemn the terrible attack in Nice, France, which killed and wounded dozens of innocent civilians, including children. On behalf of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, I offer my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of France, who were celebrating their national holiday, a reminder to the world of the democratic values that embody the French national spirit.“

Last week, the OSCE PA adopted its annual Declaration in Tbilisi, Georgia, which called, inter alia, for stronger international co-operation on anti-terrorism measures and for the OSCE to redouble its efforts to help counter terrorism through pragmatic assistance and promotion of best practice.
